Meet Lisa & Jeanette

Lisa Corcoran

Lisa has a Joint Degree in Drama & Applied Social Science and has 20 years’ experience of working with vulnerable children, young people and their families in the Voluntary Sector. Lisa started her career in a Mental Health Unit in Alder Hey Children’s Hospital; for children and young people with severe emotional and behaviour difficulties and mental health issues. She then moved into Residential Children Looked After Care Homes. During this time Lisa supported children and young people who had experienced physical, sexual and emotional abuse and neglect. Self-harm being very prevalent in these settings.

Lisa then started work with a National Children’s Charity in a Family Support capacity before progressing onto a Co-ordinators role. Safeguarding the children, young people and vulnerable adults being paramount to the role.

Lisa has a sound understanding of current issues that affect children and young people, such as Internet Safety, Self-Harm, CSE and how to support those experiencing difficulties affectively. Lisa has a keen interest the Attachment Theory and the impact it can have on all aspects of a person’s life.

Lisa has many years’ experience of developing Solution Focused training and Emotional Wellbeing Courses. Also recruiting, training and supervising volunteers and staff to a very high standard.

Lisa is a trained Pacific Institute Facilitator and delivers Personal Development Course to wide variety of delegates; which raises the attendee’s self-esteem and motivation, helping them make positive changes, which have often been described as ‘life changing’. 

Lisa continued to partake in direct work with children and families at Liverpool Junior Mentoring, Wigan Intensive Family Support and through the facilitation of numerous courses and training packages, giving her a good and current insight into the issues that both the service users and staff face on a daily basis.

Lisa has worked on a Life Story Project for children who are in the process of being adopted. Lisa ensured she was always sensitive when communicating with birth parents and adoptive parents. And was meticulous in her work to provide a detailed picture of the child’s journey to adoption.

Since 2012, she has been a freelance Training Facilitator, delivering courses to professionals across the country.  Lisa has developed packages on a number of topics including, Solution Focused Approach, Motivational Interviewing, Reflective Supervision, Building Resilience in Children and Young People, Therapeutic Parenting, Missing from Home, Safeguarding. More recently, Lisa has undertaking delivery of Reducing Parental Conflict training for professionals for the DWP, across the country. 

Jeanette Johnson

Jeanette’s background is in HR, Training and Recruitment having worked for a large retail organisation for over 15 years, delivering and creating training packages for managers & team leaders. Creating sessions on Solution Focused, Effective Communication, Team Working, Behavioural and Motivational workshops. 

Jeanette has gained a certificate in Training Practice with the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) and a Certificate in Training & Education (PTLLS) ‘Preparing to teach in the lifelong learning sector’

After going back to college to study Health & Social Care, Jeanette started working as part of Wigan Council, mentoring vulnerable children who had suffered abuse, neglect/trauma, also working with Children Looked After in Residential Children’s Homes.

Jeanette then started to work for a National Children’s Charity in 2010 becoming a trained Parenting Practitioner, delivering Positive Parenting Programmes; Triple P & Teen Triple P.

Jeanette would also deliver bespoke parenting sessions, either in a group setting or 1:1, in children’s centres, schools etc. to parents/carers.

Having been trained by CEOP, Jeanette has created and delivered a variety of courses for parents/carers around Safeguarding children; keeping them safe and preventing exploitation online.  Other sessions Jeanette has created and developed for parents include; Therapeutic Parenting, Safe Sleeping, Skills for starting school, Financial Futures/Managing money, Steps to Success, Self-Care & Emotional Wellbeing & Building Resilience in children and young people.

Jeanette has gained experience working as part of an ‘Intensive Family Support’ team, working with families with multiple and complex needs, also gaining a Level 4 qualification in this field.

Jeanette is a trained Pacific Institute Facilitator and has delivered Personal Development Courses to wide variety of people, to help raise confidence and self-esteem levels, promoting positive changes.

Jeanette has experience of delivering and co-ordinating the ‘Separated Parents Information Programme’ through CAFCASS to support separated parents who are in conflict, these training sessions are ongoing.

Jeanette is passionate about training & development and enjoys encouraging others to grow and develop new skills helping them to reach their full potential.
